or...How To Make Meals Your Friends Will Never Forget
My entire life has been leading up to this book. Now, I know that might sound cheesy but it’s true: this really is the book I’ve been looking for ever since I could cook, and when I couldn’t find it in the shops I realised I needed to write it myself. So for the last 10 years I’ve been doing just that. It’s a completely practical cookbook but all the food is in some way extraordinary, spectacular, interactive or enlightening. Some dishes are gently adventurous (whole artichokes and sushi-rolling parties), others are completely wild (golden chicken and salmon cooked in a dishwasher) but, crucially, most of it is made from ingredients that you use every day or can easily find. The idea is to get you and your friends eating wonderful, extraordinary meals that you’ll remember forever.

Reviews:
‘A remarkable journey through Stefan’s peculiar and brilliant culinary mind. He’s experimental, creative and still sympathetic towards tastes, textures and flavours. Stefan is a genuinely charming, exciting and marginally eccentric chap and this comes across thoroughly through the book.’ Hello! Magazine
‘He's doing God's work...this is a cookbook that is both inspiring and fun to read. It brings home the theater of food and makes it accessible to any cook armed with a sense of adventure (and a fire extinguisher).’ Philadelphia Citypaper
‘A groovier, more irreverant Heston Blumenthal's science-busting, sensation-making innovation. If his children can be persuaded to try a plate of charcuterie - I can be a have-a-go kitchen hero, too.’ The Times
‘From 'This Week's Foodie News: Read This': 'An antidote to serious chef tomes, Stefan Gates' book shows you how to have fun with food. It's particularly good on winter dinner parties'
The Daily Mail Weekend Magazine
'Something of a zany culinary magician, Gates takes you on a host of foodie adventures with dishes such as chocolate-roasted spare ribs and fish kebabs roasted on a car engine. Plus, there are ideas for quirky entertaining, such as crab and hammer parties that will blow away any post-Christmas cobwebs.' Elle Decoration
‘He delivers the why-it-works details like Alton Brown and evokes the try-anything-once swagger of Anthony Bourdain.
The ideas tread the line between achieveable and ridiculous, with plenty of notions that might make reasonably proficient cooks itch to throw a party.’ Buffalo News (US)
