Jerusalem artichoke, asparagus and bacon salad
Serves 4
You should get an adult to help you cook these foods, but don’t whatever you do tell them that this is going to make them fart! Just sit back and watch! The effects take about 1-14 hours hours, depending on your metabolism (how fast your body processes food).
The Jerusalem artichokes and beans make you fart, the brussels sprouts make the farts smell really strong, and the the asparagus makes your pee smell, just for good measure!
Ingredients
200g Jerusalem artichokes, scrubbed, peeled and sliced into £1 coin thick slices
330g Flageolet beans
1 bundle Asparagus spears
100g Brussels sprouts, blanched
100g streaky bacon (optional)
Salad dressing ingredients:
Splash of olive oil
Splash of wine vinegar
Teaspoon honey
1/2 teaspoon french mustard
pinch of salt & pepper
(all these are usually available in a decent-sized supermarket)
Method
Chop your jerusalem artichokes, drain and rinse the flageolet beans in cold water, then set aside. Chop the bases of the brussles sprouts off and discard, then chop them in half. Bring a large pan of water up to the boil and then add the Brussels sprouts and asparagus spears. Bring back to the boil and keep boiling for about 4-5 minutes until tender. Drain.
Optional bit (for extra flavour): Chop the bacon into little pieces and fry in a tiny bit of oil until nicely browned and crispy.
Mix all the hot and cold ingredients together. Mix the salad dressing ingredients together in a cup, then pour it on the salad and mix together. Serve with some nice crusty bread.
